Oh, I have been doing that, constantly in fact, another element that makes me think this person is doing this by hand, because it'd be easy to just use a VPN to switch to a new IP address.

Well, one of the new anti-spam countermeasures seems to be working, so at the very least the spammer won't have an easy time getting around it.

Is there anything wrong with limiting new members to 3 posts per day, and all members to 6 posts per day?

Members with permission from Mods can post more per day.

I believe that would resolve everything.


We now have members replying to those spam posts in the stories.

I had to roll back the database to retrieve TeenFan's account, if you posted something the past two days, you may have to repost it.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but the spammer threw me for enough of a loop that I was too frazzled and sleep ...

Another oddity, we now have this 'Atissia' actively posting spam as I type but that user name is not appearing a the bottom of the screen as an active user. Have they found another way around preventive measures ?

Edit: now gone, maybe a lag between them being booted and the posts disappearing ...

That one's on me, I missed it when I checked the new accounts and let it through.

I remember someone on here warning that they'd experienced these spammers before on a different forum and that they'd register loads of new accounts and leave them for weeks and months only to activate them later on. We're seeing it now, accounts registered back in January only now spamming ...

Yeah I don't get why for now just turn off new membership until this is all figured out, I know many have said the same thing, but at least it would slow down new accounts from being created.

Could just make it so users with less than 10 or so posts can't send links as a message.

Or users with less than 5 thumbs up can't message.

Things like this that would make it harder for a bot to just spam straight away. Could even have both of these.
