Is there a way to make a poll inside a ongoing topic?
I know how to make a poll as the first message on the topic (like this one) but when I reply to a topic there's no option to create poll. Is there a hidden way to do this or is this a plan to be implemented?
I was thinking of writing a "you guys vote for what happens next" type of story, all on the same topic so not to clutter
So, can anyone help me out? Is there a way to make this happen?7
Thanks in advance

Re: Is there a way to make a poll inside a ongoing topic?
According to the FAQ: ( app.php/help/faq )
How do I create a poll?
When posting a new topic or editing the first post of a topic, click the “Poll creation” tab below the main posting form; if you cannot see this, you do not have appropriate permissions to create polls. Enter a title and at least two options in the appropriate fields, making sure each option is on a separate line in the textarea. You can also set the number of options users may select during voting under “Options per user”, a time limit in days for the poll (0 for infinite duration) and lastly the option to allow users to amend their votes.

Re: Is there a way to make a poll inside a ongoing topic?
Hey underdog, yeah I read it but it doesn't really answer my question. I'm not sure if I was clear. I meant to say I'm trying to make a poll inside and Ongoing topic, like the reply of a topic being the poll, not the first message of the topic. There's nothing in the FAQ for that so I was wondering if there a way to make the poll after creating the thread/topic.underdog_13 wrote: Mon Oct 30, 2023 5:17 pm According to the FAQ: ( app.php/help/faq )

I'm not 100% sure, but afraid that there isn't such a functionality since the polls are tied to the topics themselves.
You could edit the first post to add a poll to it, and everyone will generally see it any time they're on the topic.
Barring that, your only option is to create a new topic, add a poll to it, and then direct people to it with a link from the OG topic.

So I just ran a test on this. Turns out you can continuously edit the first post on a thread to create new polls without limit, even once the original poll has ended. This means you can absolutely do what you're wanting to do! Each new poll will always be tied to the first post of the thread (so you should link readers there at the end of each chapter), but it allows you to just keep making new ones each time you post an update. Doing so erases the results of the old poll though, so you may choose to take a screenshot of the results first and post them in the thread to keep a record of such things.

Bit late to the party, but I just had a random thought, remembered your question, and thought if you don't want to continuously edit the first page:johndoe06 wrote: Mon Oct 30, 2023 3:58 pm So, can anyone help me out? Is there a way to make this happen?7
Get to the point where you want to ask a new question and use an external poll service and provide a link to it, like this (using the relevant link, obviously):
Code: Select all
