Further to board guidelines

Post by unfair »

Hi yeh just to check,
You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-orientated or any other material that may violate any laws (...) Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned, with notification of your Internet Service Provider if deemed required by us. The IP address of all posts are recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions.
Sounds a bit scary.

Seems to me quite likely that there will be "obscene, vulgar and sexually-orientated" content... Do I need to worry about this, or am I safe just to assume anything accepted on the old board will be fine?

The real core of that statement is the "may violate any laws" portion, which really means that you shouldn't post any illegal pornography, I'll spare you the details of what that includes, but suffice to say, this tends to cover imagery and video, literary fiction is usually exempt from that as it falls under freedom of speech.

I'm wondering if some sort of posting guide is possible? Like a bunch of rules and tips just so moderators and such don't have to keep asking and posting replies to stories. Like is it possible to have the rules as a sticky at the top of the page or have new readers and those that sign up read the rules first? Just asking as I've no idea as what is possible with this site.

Having just read the above posts it might be an idea to keep this place literary only. Also can guests post links?

Pretty much the post in "Announcements and Administration" board isn't it?

Yeah, It may not have been obvious since it's literally the first manmade post on the board, but that's about it.

anything I feel is unsuitable for the board or just having a “bad feel” to it such as stories involving the exploitation of young children, ----philia, excessive violence, gore, etc.
Okay, thank you, this kind of information is very useful and informative! 8-) I just joined over here, and thus hope to "dip my toe" proverbially into the waters, but I also care greatly about remaining on the "right side" of your rules and guidelines; while I do have my own "extreme" and "edgy" tendencies, there are also lines I cannot and will not cross, even for me, haha! For example, I even had to "censor" the first four letters before "-philia" as a matter of personal comfort...

...but mostly, I just want to be careful not to fuck up and inadvertently get myself banned or something, especially not before I have had a decent chance to enjoy myself and have great conversations over here! Right?

I wonder if the above statement is from phpBB or from gilspns.com?

Is it possible NOT to save all IP addresses and NOT to automatically contact the ISP?

That one is by phpbb, which yes, it does record all IP addresses using it, there's even options to ban and block someone by IP as part of its toolset, but to be fair, the ISP of both this site and the user also record it (in fact, the IP is technically provided to the site BY the ISP).

good news is, your ISP is technically not unique to you unless you request it to be the case, just unique to said ISP, which tends to shuffle them up every so often, so it's rarely a security threat to you in the long run.

@ girlspns:

Thank you for the feedback. (At least for people from the more restrictive country, it might be advisable to use the Tor browser or a VPN with a good reputation.)
