The Legend of the Pecker Checker

During Christmas break of my 5th grade year, my family moved from the suburbs to the small rural town where my dad grew up. There was very little to do in the town, so almost all the boys played some kind of sports. My mother dutifully signed me up to play little league baseball that spring.

As soon as the practices started, the chatter among the players - especially the ones who had older brothers - was of a scary creature that we would one day have to encounter: The Pecker Checker! According to them, starting in the 7th grade any boy who wanted to play sports would have to show his pecker to an old woman who would squeeze his balls. That was really scary sounding stuff to us 5th graders. As I thought about it, though, I decided these stories were made up to scare us, sort of like ghost stories. After all, our parents would never let us participate in some kind of crazy ritual where we showed our dicks to an old woman, and they certainly wouldn't let her squeeze our balls! There was no way it was real.

At the beginning of the next season, the same stories were told. The guys with older brothers had details that had most of the kids dreading the 7th grade. I wasn't worried, though. I knew the Pecker Checker didn't exist and the other guys were just gullible. They probably still fell for snipe hunts.

Spring time of my 7th grade year finally rolled around. I found the mimeographed little league application forms and information package on our kitchen table one afternoon. It had details about the costs, uniforms, equipment, team assignments, etc. Then there was a schedule for something called a Pre-participation Physical Evaluation which would be held in the high school gym. That didn't sound good. Physical evaluation? That sounds a lot like a physical exam. And why was it at the high school? Could it be that the Pecker Checker wasn't just a legend? Was I really going to have to show my dick to an old woman and let her squeeze my balls? I couldn't take the risk. I told my mother that I didn't like baseball anymore and didn't want to play. I actually wasn't very good at it anyway, so it was no great loss.

The day of the exam came, and the next Monday I got reports from my former teammates. Yes, it was true! The Pecker Checker was real! Almost all of my friends had actually shown their dicks to a woman and let her squeeze their balls! I couldn't believe how close that came to happening to me! My 12-year-old self was very happy to have dodged that bullet, but looking back I wish that I had encountered the Pecker Checker.

I can imagine how scary that would have been. This sounds like it could have been part of one of the classic mature "Kids" movies of the past,
such as "The Sandlot" or "Stand By Me".

Only a European or Asian film would come close to actually shooting the Pecker Checker in action. A Hollywood movie wouldn't come
close to reality of a real physical exam.

I was very happy at the time that I didn't have to go to the Pecker Checker, but obviously now I wish that I had. I would have dreaded it and hated it while it was happening, for sure.

Over the years, I have told many friends about the Pecker Checker, and many of them have told me their experiences. I do plan to share them.

Wow, even in Sweden the boys are afraid to be seen naked. I always thought they were more used to it than sheltered, inexperienced
American boys of junior high age.
