How old were you when you were still expected to be naked?
It started when I was 11 or 12 until 17.

What country was this? How long ago?
It was in South/East Europe in the 90s.

It was regular daily life for the locals, but the girls definitely took advantage of it sometimes. They loved to tease us, giggle, and make fun of us especially when we got punished, spanked by the elders, or if one of us got an erection. Since I was the visitor from the city, I became their favorite target and got picked on constantly.

The older men like my grandfather held absolute authority over the household, but the girls and women definitely held a unique social power over us simply because of our total exposure.
The contrast between us from head to toe was absolute. The girls wore simple, light cotton or linen summer dresses that covered them completely, complemented by practical leather sandals or walking shoes to protect their feet from the rough clay and stone paths. While they had the protection of fabric and footwear, we had nothing: no shirts, no shorts, no underwear, no shoes. Our skin was exposed entirely to the scorching sun, biting insects, and sharp stones. Because they were fully clothed and shod while we were stark naked and barefoot, they held all the cards in daily interactions. They could move around shielded and comfortable while we were completely vulnerable, giving them free rein to judge, stare, and mock us whenever our paths crossed.

They were taken immediately. The second I stepped into my grandfather's house on the first day, my city clothes were stripped away, and I was told I wouldn't need them. By the time I returned for my second or third summer in the village I knew the drill well enough that I stripped down on my own initiative the moment I arrived, though I usually kept my underwear on out of lingering habit. Grandpa would just look at me, shake his head, and tell me to take those off too, returning me right back to the full village tradition as always.

Did girls have the same rugged life as you did or did they have fewer punishments?
Their daily routine was different from ours. They handled domestic chores, cooking assistance, and tending smaller homestead animals. They weren't punished nearly as harshly or as often as we were. While discipline existed for them too including occasional spankings behind closed doors for bad behavior.

I can only imagine it got more embarrassing to be naked in front of all those girls as you got well into puberty, as you say you participated until age 17. Difficult for me to imagine being routinely naked in front of all those people in my mid to late teens.

I had zero idea. My uncle didn't say a single word about it during the whole drive. When we walked into the village and I saw those local boys strolling down the middle of the road, three of them completely stark naked and the other wearing just faded briefs, it definitely gave me a really funny, surreal feeling in my stomach, but I just figured it was some bizarre local quirk of theirs and didn't think much past it. I certainly didn't think it applied to me. So when Grandpa flat-out ordered me to strip the second we arrived, it was a massive shock. My uncle didn't say a word. I peeled off my shirt, shorts, shoes, and socks, standing in just my underwear as a compromise. But Grandpa's eyes narrowed, and he barked at me to take that off too. I instinctively crossed my arms and tried to use my hands to cover my privates, but Grandpa snapped at me instantly to drop my hands and stand uncovered.
