My answer to this is pretty boring, as all three are female friends that I had crushes on in high school.

I just knew them from school, hadn’t met any of them before high school in fact. None of them were particularly timid or quiet, quite the opposite actually. I considered them to be (or at least seem) more confident and self assured than me, which may have been a matter of perspective as I was terribly neurotic. I don’t think any of them would have been surprised to find that I found them attractive. We were all kind of geeks, which is what initially brought us together.
