It's not quite a "one size fits all" kind of matter (word play intended ). It think you're right in that many girls don't experience pain during their first time at all. Some do though. Everyone's anatomy is a bit different. If you're tight down there and your partner is bigger it might hurt at first even with lots of foreplay.

The hymen can be in the way and it might tear. As you said it also often just stretches and opens up. But it's very individually different and there are no givens.

I think discussing this is important since many people (both guys and gals) are just unknowing on this topic.

Also, don't fear to bring up "touchy" subjects. I feel like this forum is quite open and non-judgemental.

I want to add that I experienced a non-sexual hymen opening situation when I took a nasty spill in the shower when I was still in middle school. Luckily the doctor was able to explain the situation in a way my parents could understand. That's why I felt personally validated by you bringing the matter up.

Sadly the downside to the blood myth with losing one's virginity is if one does not include it, you often get readers questioning it. The myth is just that prevalent.

If the schools' sex-ed curriculums were more hands-down (or even better hands-on ), like in some of the stories on this site, kids would learn such things much better.

Live demonstrations would've been so much more valuable than those boring anatomical drawings that we learned from.

Such myths are born in bad education.

They mostly come from the parents trying to scare the kids into absence. Which the schools unintentionally adopted, mostly as sex Ed is still a very gray topic for schools to cover, especially when it comes to images and laws around them. Forcing them to use adults and then drawing for kids/teens to so the changes. Though it's for the best seeing easily abused those pictures can be. Then you have the teachers who were raised with the absence mind set and what ever they're parents taught them(plus life experiences).

Great chapter! I love Lia playing innocent in front of her neighbor, and how cute it makes her come across. I'm looking forward to whatever punishment her daddy ends up giving her for touching herself.

I am not sure what would lead to the open claim, confirmed by multiple people, that not only does the first time not hurt, but the hymen does not rupture and bleed, but it worries me about the future. No simple, obvious, anecdotally confirmed facts can ever remain true in the 21st century.
I can only suspect the reason behind this 'myth' claim is to continue to erase the inescapable fact that sexual intercourse permanently changes a woman, because that gets in the way of the modern philosophy of doing whatever you want, and assuming everything believed in the past was pointless.

Screw all these people, you can write anything you want to write, if they do not like it, they can stop reading your story and move on. This is just bullying against you, because no one has the right to say what you can and can not say or how you say it.

Don't worry, I don't feel like anyone is pressuring me in my writing. I had no plans on using it again anyway. I simply wanted a quick way for it to be discovered that Lia was a virgin still. I really don't mind the discussion on it. I'd rather that than my story be ignored.

Personally, I like the idea of Lia's hymen showing she's a virgin. Not every virgin girl has a hymen, but I imagine every girl with a hymen is probably a virgin. So other characters seeing Lia's hymen can infer that she's a virgin, something they wouldn't know otherwise unless she told them.

I like writing fantasy. Sure, I try to keep things realistic, the story needs to have its own rules and keep things within the bounds of suspension of disbelief. But I've always left the whole "popping the cheery" thing out of any time I've ever had characters have sex for the first time (Matt & Jenny, Blake & Abbie, etc.). My idea being that the girls are so turned on by the situation that their first times weren't painful at all. That's what makes it hot to me.
