The troubling trend of age verification

Suddenly, it seems like there is a concerted push from the top to demand ID verification as a way to "protect" kids from mature content, instead of letting parents do their job.
The UK implemented such a law, the US is in the process, last i heard even GTA 6 was planning to require this.
I don't need to tell anyone how troubling it is that the safety of kids is being used as an excuse to surveill everyone even more than we already are.
Would love to hear your opinions on this.

I've railed against this trend for literal decades, and it's far from new. What's new is that global governments have collectively shifted so far into the authoritarian direction since roughly 2000, especially Western governments, that these censorship and internet control mechanisms are now moving into mainstream laws at a rapid pace. Nothing good ever came of any rights banned "for the children". Funny that rights must go away to protect children while actual child predators are protected by every major governmental, religious, or sports institution in every major nation.
That being said, this isn't exactly a political website so sparking debates on political subjects isn't really a great idea. I'd imagine this particular issue is close to unanimous support in this community since we'd be on the chopping block very quickly, but the point still stands.

Fair yeah I wanted people's views as to the reason why suddenly there is a unanimous push for it, though if you want to close this thread I'd understand why.

Yeah I'm not going to get political about this but I definitely don't like it. It dies worry me though since yeah porn doesn't really do it for me but games like gta, which online is even in the process if bring locked behind age verification apparently, and xbox is soon going to need age verification and no doubt PlayStation too but I haven't seen anything about that yet. Like I don't know how they'll implement that. But I'll be fucked if it's through email addresses since I haven't got access to my PlayStation account email.
Anyway but yeah it worries me also since if this site gets locked behind age verification then that cuts off something that I actually started to enjoy participating in. And no doubt others on here won't be best pleased if they have to prove their age and just won't bother because of well ID over Internet and stuff bad idea.

Coming from the UK I have already seen this in action. As a member of the Nude World Order blog I was asked for age verification when clicking on the link to their Discord server. I did rail against it first as I'm not certain it's totally secure and wonder if the UK government would be able to put me on a facial recognition list. Then I thought that if they were looking into my activity they would find fully nude pictures of me on both the Nude World Order blog site and Discord anyway. All the authorities will end up with is a list of legitimate web users and any bad actors will find a way round it, but hey. the authorities have to be seen to be doing something...

I would compromise, if someone is trying to enter a site that has nude females, sure verify them but if they are entering a site with only naked males, let them in without the need to verify them Problem solved!

I have a feeling it will go in the other way, with sites like
https://www.kindgirls.com/ being allowed for their "artistic value" whereas sites depicting male nudity will be considered obscene. Quite the double standard, I know, but the world has been trending towards allowing women to get away with wearing quite little while demonizing men for doing the same.

I am not so sure about that. There are many site for CFNM and in fact, CFNM is several times more popular that CMNF.. There are also many public events where hundreds of males are naked while there may be one or two females and

Philippines girls enjoy attending Oblation Run
Every year students of a Philippines' university run naked along the campus streets for the "Oblation Run" to protest again some issues, like university's fee, Internet freedom, civil rights, etc.
Only male students run naked in a huge crowd of viewers and, of course, there are more girls than boys attending the event.

Also I often check IMdB for movie ratings and they have a parent's guide. More and more for sexual content, IMdB is saying that full frontal MALE only nudity is displayed and than adds "no female nudity shown"

I do think male nudity is becoming more common. Too bad they do not bring back the nude male swim teams with girls wearing one piece suits.

I hope you didn't take that as me putting you down. On the contrary, I think males are more likely to participate in these types of activities because they aren't allowed to flaunt it as much as females in every day culture. Just look at what a man is required to wear in a typical office setting versus a woman. I wonder what the ratio would be for CFNM or CMNF if men were allowed to show more of their bodies in everyday life.

One problem is that women have a major stigma for viewing naked males other than her husband but if it was socially acceptable for them to do so, many more would and that would speed up CFNM events.
Back in the 1950's and 60's there were many swim teams that had girls on the team swim in one piece suits and the males on the team swam naked, including at swim meets and on the team I was on, we were encourage to go into the stands and thank people for coming. We went with one guy and one gal and the guy was naked when they went into the stands. There were a lot of mom's and many of those moms had young daughters and sons with them. The fact that the males being naked was sanctioned by the school made it socially acceptable for women to go and watch naked males for a couple hours at a time and to bring young children and I do contend it is better for a young girl (and many of them were as young as 7 or 8) to see their first mature male genitals in a safe setting that on the street and these moms must have felt the same way. The girls were excited to see us but young boys were embarrassed but I wish those times never ended .
