I am always surprised, how prominent Spanking is in Enf/Enm stories both here and asstr. As someone who never even heard of it in my culture/area. I always saw it in movies as a quick fun gag, never punishment. Is it actually a thing that happens, Especially with kids for disciplining?

Also ofc no offence to anyone's kinks, but i genuinely am interested as how you feel about it in relation to Embarrassment. It does feel more of humiliation and Shame, loss of authority, or being man-handled.

Like what do you expect or look forward while spanking is mentioned in the story? The characters besides the protag? how rough it is? The aftermath?

In some of the male spanking stories that I've read, it's the potent combination of full or partial nudity in front of others present (often female family members) that gives interest to the reader. Then if the guy cries, that just adds to the embarrassment. In some of those stories, the victim even becomes sexually aroused. School spankings are another prominent part of this genre.

I was spanked for misbehavior when I was young. Not frequently, and even then only enough to get the point across and maybe elicit a few tears.

From a kink perspective as an adult, for me it's a complex interaction with childhood memories. You're right about the humiliation and shame as well as the submission. But there was embarrassment too. For one, the majority of times I was spanked was in my briefs which may have involved my pants being taken down. But also, the "sit spot" where spankings are targeted is an erogenous zone. So receiving a spanking can generate a lot of feelings at once which can be confusing and therefore also embarrassing to a kid, and depending on age and situation, an involuntary physical response may follow. So loss of control is also in play.

I guess it's worth noting that for me there were two very distinct kinds of spanking.

The first type was one or two quick swats of medium intensity delivered without fanfare. They were used as an interruption, to stop me when I was doing something that was dangerous or likely to cause injury that needed to be stopped immediately and without discussion. Usually a strong scolding would follow but that would be the end of it so the only thing that hurt after a few seconds was my pride.

The second type was more formal. This is where pants might come down and there would be several swats that would hurt and usually resulted in tears. This was when I'd done something really bad and was the worst punishment you could get in my book.

I was never spanked as a kid, my parents didnt believe in that kind of punishment. So I have only experienced it as an adult. My first proper adult boyfriend introduced me to it after we watched The Secretary. I love it.

The second type is alot more common in the third world and asia.

I find it genuinely baffling that there's anyone on Earth who has literally never heard of it in their area. In any case, Teahouse has it exactly right.

School spankings were (and still are) technically legal in many states. Just not utilized in most cases due to potential legal repercussions. Corporal punishment at the Middle School & High Schools which I attended had long been discontinued. But it had been used in past years. They still had the paddle stored away and one time a Vice-Principal showed it to myself and few other members of the Student Council during a meeting we had. He really wasn't even supposed to show this relic to us, but my friend David talked him into it. Then David further embarrassed me by saying, "Too bad, Nick here really wants it." Everyone in the meeting laughed at this remark. The V-P smiled and swung it at the air. It was a mean looking thing with two holes drilled into if for better swinging effectiveness.

As someone who had many spankings growing up with a range if humiliation involved its all very complicated.

In a fictional story if there's spanking I prefer it to be gentle and more on embarrassment side than paid side for the receiver.
