Some of these threads about seeing nude pics of cousins in the family albums and being shown to others reminds me of this story from my childhood of my cousin.

When I was young, my cousin and his parents lived abroad for work. So I didn't see him much until he was about 5 when they moved back into the country. One day, my sister and I were visiting one of my other relatives place, where we heard that they would be moving back soon. I was about 11 or so at the time and my sister about 7. As we hadn't seen him in a few years since he was a baby, they put on a home video that had been taken recently of him on vhs on the TV so we could see what he looked like and how he was like and so on. In the video, he was around 4 or 5, and we were surprised to see him playing naked at their home which was in an apartment. Surprised because we were never nude like that at home, and I don't recall staying nude at home like that even when I was younger. I didn't see anything untoward happening in the video they played, it was just an innocent video of him playing with toys on the floor and walking or running around nude in the living room and waiting while his mom was preparing a bath for him. The video was taken by his father, my uncle, who was also directing and narrating the video. My cousin was young at the time wasn't embarrassed or cared at that age about being nude. From the video it appeared like it was a regular occurrence or that he stayed nude at home most of the time.

I wasn't that interested in watching the video myself, saw what he looked like and that was enough for me. But my sister was a lot more interested in watching the TV, probably because he wasn't wearing anything so his bits could be seen quite prominently and bouncing around as he moved and jumped around. My sister and I never discussed seeing the video of him, but I'm sure she enjoyed it more than I did. We never told him about having seen the video of him after he moved back. There were likely more tapes of him, but we only saw that one once. After moving back, I don't think he stayed nude at home any more like before.

A year or so after they moved back, my aunt and uncle had a daughter (his sister). And as far as I'm aware, she was never running around/playing nude around in the home like her brother did. Always covered up/dressed whenever we saw her as she was growing up. We didn't play with her much growing up due the the larger age difference. Digital cameras were then aorund by that time, so it was much more accessible to make home videos, but I'm quite certain they didn't make any home videos of my girl cousin playing at home the same way. Don't know if those vhs tapes are still around, not that I'd want to watch it.

To you he was just a kid, but to your sister he was much closer in age, so seeing a boy only a bit younger fully naked was probably quite enjoyable for her, hence her focus

And yes, there is an implicit double standard. If there was a son instead, there would be another home video of him naked probably, but since it's a daughter there wasn't.

Yes there was definitely a double standard. I remember when he was a baby and we visited them, when we were in the same room playing and he needed changing, my aunt or grandmother would change him right there on the floor mat in front of us and my sister and I could watch, which she did. She would have been around 3 at 4 at the time and I about 7 or 8. She wouldn't have known much at the time, only that boys and girls were different. When they moved back and my girl cousin was the same age and she needed changing, she was never changed in front of us, always would have been taken to another room or some place private to be changed.

I also don't think they let my cousin ever get to see his sister nude as a baby either. As we were growing up and playing together, he didn't seem to know about the difference between girls and boys until later, maybe 7 or 8, because he referred to her privates as her willy for a while, which implied he hadn't seen her or didnt know girls didn't have one. I never told him though (I don't know why), nor did my sister, but he eventually did find out.

So in the family, girls modesty were protected but boys' was in a way, disregarded.
