I'm really curious how family composition might affect how willing a mother is to nonchalantly strip her kid at the beach. Does having a sibling make it more or less likely? What about the genders and ages of those sibs? And how might that correlate with breast buds (with girls) and penis size (with boys)?

I kind of suspect with girls that changing in the open stops pretty much the instant her chest stops looking exactly like a boy's even if it isn't obvious or pronounced. And with boys, if they're on the smaller size are they more likely to be changed because "there's nothing to see", or if they're on the larger size out of quiet pride for what the mother has produced? Of course there's always the notion that with boys the mother wants to reinforce that she's still in charge, especially with boys that might be more restive.

It'd be interesting if there was some data on this.

There probably isn't any official data on this, but we can collect it from user opinions on the forum!

As for me, I have a brother who is 4 years younger. Usually, my dad was the one initiating my nudity, but when it came to stripping/changing at the beach, my mom would just do it to me without a second thought until I was 15.

My brother was ALWAYS treated differently than me. I was always supposed to set an example for him, to show that "there's nothing to be ashamed of." He always avoided going naked like the plague, so by the time he was 7 or 8, they left him alone to avoid arguments and his tantrums.

I was a late bloomer; things only started changing for real after I turned 15, and of course, I had a small penis. He was the complete opposite—he hit puberty super early and even surpassed me, and his thing was always bigger than mine. He was also always more athletic, etc., the favorite child. The argument that in my case "there's nothing to see, it's just a peepee, everyone knows what a peepee looks like" was used often about me.

Fifteen? Yikes. Just curious, were there others around when she would say that about you? Like, did you feel like she was saying that to you directly to override your modesty? Or did you feel like she was saying that for people around you as a backhanded way of calling out that you were exposed?

These recollections remind me of when I was about 12 years old. I had gone on holiday with my uncle and aunt and younger cousin (he was about 7 at the time). My parents were working the whole of the summer holidays and so this was the only opportunity I would get for a proper holiday. We stayed in a caravan on a site fairly close to the sea in North Devon in the UK. I was very pleased to go but I suspect the main reason for the invite was so that I could play with my cousin.
It happened to be a very hot summer and so we spent most days on the nearby sandy beach, building sandcastles and playing in the sea.
At the end of each day on the beach both my cousin and I were covered in sand and so we were taken down to the sea by my aunt who would make us go into the sea to wash off the sand and then when we came back out to the edge she would just take our swimming trunks off and and make us walk back up to where we had been playing. I tried to object on the first day but I was told not to be silly as I didn't have anything that anyone wanted to look at and also I would be setting a bad example for my younger cousin who, at that age, always followed what I did. By the time we got back to where we had been playing my uncle would have collected up all of our 'stuff' (towels, mats, toys, drinks and sandwiches) and we would walk through the beach to the car for the drive back to the caravan. They both said that they didn't want sand in the car or the caravan. I would usually end up having to carry 2 bags and so I couldn't even try to cover up.
I still remember their little joke, which they repeated every day - 'watch out boys, there are seagulls around and if you don't keep moving they will think that there are 2 little worms that they will try to eat.'
It wasn't funny then and it isn't today.

Not funny, no. But I do find quips like that to be sort of cute in a specific ENM way, despite (or maybe because of) the demeaning aspect of it.

I feel like I'd been told something similar sometime when I was naked outdoors as a boy at some time or other. Not sure it involved a bird but certainly some form of wildlife mistaking my little penis for something else. I have vague memories of hearing that and later imagining that I'd actually lost my penis that way, and that thought made me scared and tingly which was very confusing.

That's a really good question. I think it was a mix of both. Said directly to me to shut down any protest, but also loud enough for anyone nearby to hear it as a 'justification'. It definitely didn't make me feel more private, that's for sure. Saying 'it's just a peepee' out loud somehow made the whole thing more awkward and drew more attention to it, not less.

Wow, haha, well it's comforting in a weird way to know my parents weren't the only ones with that 'brilliant' logic!

The worse part for me was that I was supposed to be setting the example, but my brother never followed it anyway!

Why did you have to walk naked all the way to the car? Did you ride back home in the car without clothes too? And was the beach crowded when you had to walk back?

It was hot so it was felt we didn't need clothes to walk back to the car. My aunt and uncle put a towel on the back seat of the car so that my cousin and I could sit on that for the fairly short ride back to the caravan park. It was the days before seat belts or child seats and so we could just sit on the back seat. It was a clean towel as they were insistant that sand must not get in the car. The overriding concern was the sand - no concern for my or my cousin's modesty!
Yes, it was a crowded beach and then a short walk along the road to where the car was parked. Fortunately as we were always keen to get to the beach my uncle was able to find somewhere to park fairly close to where we would sit on the beach.

Of course we would be barefoot as we walked across the beach and along the road to the car and so before we were allowed into the car we had to have our feet washed off with a bottle of water that they kept in the car for that purpose. And that would be the last thing to be done after everything else had been put in the boot of the car and my cousin and I would sit on the edge of the seat with our feet out so that the water could be poured over our feet and ankles and my aunt would brush off any offending sand. As the eldest, I, of course, had to just stand and wait whilst my cousin's feet were done first before I would sit and have mine cleaned.

Wow! Walking around the beach and back to the vehicle naked at age 12 (if I am understanding the post correctly) is really a humiliation. Probably lots of girls, some around your age at the time, might have seen your nudity. Depending on how crowded the beach was, I suppose, probably varied day to day.
