This site has been working better than half the other sites I try to visit these days. I have a feeling that it's the mega-servers hosting everybody that have been getting hit right now, not the individual websites.

I don't really know how these sites work but I wonder if it may reduce the number of 'attacks' if it was restricted to just those who are registered? It is not that difficult to do and may prevent bots etc. from accessing it. I'm sure the owners of this site have far more knowledge than me and I am just pleased that most of the time I can access it.

That would be bad. No new members, and existing members wouldn't be able to log in whenever they were logged out for any reason.

This site isn't having bad issues right now so there's no need to over-react. A lot of the sites I visit these days are either fully down or get stuck in lag-loops every time you click anything.

I'm quite surprised that so many men speak of being embarrassed when required to swim naked. When I was about twelve years old, my mother took my to the Y to register me for a one-year membership and an enrollment in a summer day camp. The director of the Y personally did the registration, and at one point said, "We use the bathing suit that nature has provided." My mother never batted an eye. I was only concerned that I would get a full erection while naked in the locker room, pool or shower area. That never happened. I enjoyed being naked. I did have difficulty learning to swim, but finally was able to pass the swimming tests, take life saving (in a nude all-male class) and went on to get a Water Safety Instructor's Certificate. I taught swimming at another Y, and usually both I and my students were naked. The list of pool rules included a no-swim-suit rule except for co-ed swimming. In the 70's the Y, pressured by the women's rights movement, made all swimming co-ed. That's about the time I got a full-time job, and stopped teaching at the Y.

From the stories I've read on this subject, which is way before my time, most males got used to being naked in front of each other daily or weekly as the case might be. There was always the problem of female classmates sneaking a peek through cracks in gym doorways. Or a girl would act as an 'office messenger' as an excuse to deliver a paper to the Coach during the Boys' swimming period.

So there were definitely some degree of violations of the boys-only nudity practices in the swimming pools pre-1970 after which the practice ended.

I grew up during the 90s at the absolute height of the gay panic, so in those days guys were avoiding getting nude around other guys with the same urgency that young girls now avoid Epstein Island (and for the same reasons). The idea of boys or men willingly swimming nude together (without cold-clocking anyone whose eyes veered low for more than a split second) goes against absolutely every fabric of my childhood experiences to the point where historical tales of nude swimming at the Y sound like stories from Narnia, even if I know they're actually true.
