To provide a bit of context: I’m from Mexico and grew up in a rather small, traditional town. I grow with my mother and sister, as my father had abandoned us before I was even born; consequently, my mother had to step in for the kinds of things a father would usually handle with his child, which led to several awkward moments while I was growing up. My relationship with my mother wasn't bad (she was constantly stressed about household expenses and had to work almost all day) but my relationship with my sister was pretty poor. We used to tease each other, as is common among siblings, but I often made fun of her physical development, which made her both sensitive and furious. Well, the whole story began when my mother took me for a routine check-up with the pediatrician. The doctor who saw us had known me since I was very young, so she had basically monitored me through every stage of my life, performing full check-ups at times. Although my mother had told me beforehand that this was just a routine visit (height, weight, and that sort of thing) it turned out to be one of those full examinations. Everything was normal when we arrived at the office; I was asked to strip down to my underwear while they weighed and measured me. The doctor performed a general check-up, and when she finished, she asked me to take off my underwear. I remember looking at my mother, trying to silently ask for help, but she had a look on her face that suggested she already knew this was going to happen. I was incredibly embarrassed; the last time my mother had seen me naked was during a check-up when I was eight. The doctor tried to convince me that it was necessary to monitor my growth during puberty and ensure I was developing properly. I refused until my mother forcibly removed my underwear, leaving me with nothing but my hands to cover myself-though not for long, as the doctor needed to examine my genitals. The doctor told my mother that I showed absolutely no signs of having entered puberty yet. To top off the humiliation, she tried to retract my foreskin; seeing that it was painful and that I could barely pull it back at all, she diagnosed me with phimosis. She then gave my mother two options: having me do exercises that involved trying to retract the foreskin during every shower, or circumcision. At first, my mother tried the first option for about two weeks, but when she saw there were no results, we moved on to the circumcision option. Naturally, this whole situation caused teasing from my sister as soon as she found out everything. When I was scheduled for the surgery, my mother and sister accompanied me; everything went well. When I woke up, I felt only a little pain and remember seeing the shaft of my penis completely bandaged, leaving the glans and testicles exposed. Unfortunately, no one had told my mother I needed to wear loose clothing, so I was wearing quite tight pants. When my mother realized this could cause problems, she gave me a long t-shirt and my underwear once again leading to my sister making fun of how my backside was on display. Luckily, the hospital was small and very close to our house, so I only had to endure the embarrassment for 5 or 10 minutes. The days following the surgery were the worst, starting with the fact that my mother took the instruction not to let anything rub against the area very seriously; she left me sitting on the living room sofa wearing only the surgical bandage (with nothing covering me) in a rather humiliating position to ensure my legs wouldn't even brush against my private parts. Later, my mother had to call an aunt to look after me while she worked, which added to the humiliation when that aunt brought along her daughter, who was 8 years old at the time. To sum it up, it was two humiliating days involving things like showers with my aunt's help, bandage changes, and humiliating comments. To make matters worse (though my mother didn't realize it) leaving me so exposed in the living room caused an infection by the third day, requiring a humiliating treatment involving ointments and frequent temperature checks. As a victim of a botched circumcision, I'm probably speaking from a place of multiple trauma triggers, but your mom is a total bitch. Giving up after two weeks for something that realistically should take months is at best lazy. And making the recovery period as humiliating as she did makes me wonder if she actually cared about your well-being or if she just enjoyed seeing a boy in pain.
Also, I know Mexico isn't know for having world class healthcare, but really depressing that the doctor didn't know that less invasive surgeries are an option, there are ways to loosen foreskin without fully removing it (and also without risking nearly as many complications).
So much pain and embarrassment could have been avoided by having a mother who didn't just give up before even trying or having a better trained doctor.

The medical clinic where I am employed does occasional adult or teenage circumcisions. It is usually on foreign-born patients as the majority of males born in Georgia or Florida are RICed (Routine Infant Circumcision).

It is same-day surgery, and the patient is usually sent home later in the day. We use Sodium Pentanol to put the patient to sleep during the procedure. Afterwards, the penis is wrapped in a gauze bandage, leaving a small enclosure at the end to permit urination. The stitches used are self-dissolving after about 14 days. The patient is advised not to masturbate or engage in any type of sexual activity with another person during this time period.

Usually, the doctor prescribes a tranquillizing medication such as Xanax or Valium to minimize any post-op discomfort. However, the most challenging aspect of this is the patient getting an erection, which no known tranquillizer can prevent, especially in a teenage boy.

Unless the patient specifically allows it, he is covered with a hospital gown and his Mom or other family members do not normally view his newly bandaged penis. Although I have been aware of cases where the boy willingly shows his penis to his Mom /sisters others in the family.

We didn't usually try to see each other naked, though that changed after an incident where I ended up seeing my sister undressed. I was between 11 and 12 years old at the time, and she was around 14; we basically shared a room throughout our adolescence. One day, I walked into the room without knocking while she was changing clothes. I didn't see much, but I was pretty rude about it; I teased her a lot back then for having a flat chest and looking like a boy. Afterward, she tried to find something to tease me about, and all that mockery ended up turning against me following my own incident. Even after I recovered, the teasing about it continued for years—until she finally forgot about it.

My sister is two years older than me and, yes, during my recovery she saw me completely naked—except for a small piece of gauze covering part of the surgical wound; even my aunt looked after me, and her daughter (my cousin), who is four years younger than me, saw me too, so I suppose my sister actually ended up enjoying the whole situation.
