CME Course

This just happened last week. I work at a medical information company. One department handles scheduling and other logistics for CME courses (continuing medical education). I know some people that work in that department. I saw her in the coffee room, it was Friday afternoon late in the day and she's visibly upset. She tells me that both of the volunteers for a scheduled course have cancelled and now she has to call all 25 or so doctors planning to attend. I ask what the course is about. You guessed it. She set up a physical with a physician friend the next morning, just checking vitals, height weight etc. I'm good to go. The location is a hotel ballroom, located away from the lobby and main entrance. I showed up at noon, and meet with 15 physicians, a mix of 30 to 50 year old men and women. My friend and the nurse coordinator gave me a towel, had me strip and wrap the towel around me.

The room wasn't big but they had 3 tables set up by the door in a U shape. I'm to stand in the middle of them. I then had to take a dose of this medicine. It's supposed to be very fast acting and get me erect within a few minutes. It doesn't last very long, just an hour or 2. Once I got erect, the nurse asked me to remove the towel. She connected me to a heart monitor and checked my pulse and blood pressure. The doctors asked questions about what I was feeling, any pain, dizziness etc. I felt fine. All of a sudden, the door opens and in walks a hotel employee with a group of young women. They make it a few steps in and the nurse and my coworker stop them.

They are probably age 19 to 25, with some ladies in their 50s. The manager is talking with someone on her headset trying to figure out who has the room. Door is still open, other people are walking by (the hotel gym is down the hall) and I give up on covering up, exposed to the people walking by too.

The group is now standing fully in the room right next to me, smiling at me and giggling. One of the older ones says she's the mom of the bride and thanks me for making this memorable. I said I'm glad and available for the bachelorette party.
