Everything I do requires two tries. I either get service unavailable or 503 error. I think it's safe to say we are being raided by bots. The sad part is, that means that we were never prepared to become more popular, which should have been the goal. But as I understand it, hosting fees have gone very much the way of housing, where the affordability is in the toilet. One of many reasons I don't see the internet recovering from its current state.

Well, sorry for not responding sooner, but after some looking into it, it is indeed a bot raid, and we're talking in the millions of access attempts, this may be a DDoS attack.
The good news is that the host has a service to alleviate such a thing, bad news is that it's more expensive than the hosting fees themselves, so that sucks, it's not gonna break the bank or anything, but I dislike having to do that in the first place.

Thanks for letting us know.
It sucks so much that the site has been such a target for bots and attacks all year. Thanks for dealing with all of this though however frustrating it must be.

I don't understand the point of botting a site like this? There's no financial data, and user data is pittance compared to a lot of more popular but equally targetable sites

DDoS (denial of Service attacks) are mainly computer-driven attacks to cause a nuisance to users by overloading a site's abilities to deal with the fake volume generated by the attack, often causing the site to crash or be unavailable to legitimate users.
Currently in the US and Europe random attacks are being perpetrated by Russia and Iran. Whether this site of ours are targets of these countries or are being targeted by a disgruntled user of this site I guess is unknown. But the fact is, DDoS attacks are quite common in this world of ours.
If our host has a solution to reduce or eliminate these attacks it is well worth the effort. If cost is a problem, our Webmaster could easily set up a Paypal account or some other outlet as a means to accept voluntary anonymous donations to offset this cost.
At any rate, I for one am grateful to our administrator for all he does for this site to keep it going. Thank you!

Blows, but good job keeping up on it. Isn't it funny how easily one can get in trouble for the tiniest thing these days, yet no one ever gets caught for using bots to harass a website and make them spend lots of money on security?
Just fyi, I am also seeing a 'too many requests' error sometimes when I click on the most recent page link. It still lets me in if I click directly on the name of the post, and then move to the last page manually. I just assume that it's some overzealous protection thing, and right now, that's better than underzealous.

The server that hosts the site actually went down for me this evening. Tried a few minutes later and it was back up, though even slower than it has been. Looking at
https://www.isitdownrightnow.com/girlspns.com.html, the site shows as having been down for 3 days and 11 hours, which I guess demonstrates the level of disruption we're experiencing.
