Joe The King (1999): Public Bare Bottom Hand Spanking

In the film Joe The King the title character is given a public spanking in front of a classroom that includes boys and girls his age. This is being posted in the true stories section because, as horrifying as it is to think about, this allegedly really happened to the director Frank Whaley.

The teacher physically picks up the boy, 9 years of age, and hauls him to the front of the class. It would have been bad enough had she spanked him over his trousers, and very embarrassing if she had just pulled down his trousers. Out of cruelty and for the purposes of humiliation, she pulls his trousers and underwear down in front of the class of both boys and girls…

The nightmare has only begun. She throws him over her lap which at least protects his modesty from the wide eyes of the girls, and proceeds to to give him a forceful and extended bare bottom spanking by hand. The spanking is meant to be painful, but first and foremost places an emphasis on embarrassment.

The scene is shot expertly. As the teacher’s hand smack’s Joe’s bare ass there are quick cuts of the shocked reactions of the girls who clearly can’t believe this is being done in front of them. My favorite quick shot is when one of them looks down, seemingly out of respect for the poor boy. You can’t blame the girls for watching the public humiliation with bug eyes, but this girl knows she wouldn’t want the boys to see her bare bottom getting smacked, nor her vulva before and after.

The money shot is the closeup of Joe’s face of unspeakable shame and humiliation. This is intercut with the aforementioned shots of the girl’s faces, and no doubt the reality that they all just saw his penis has filled the half of the boy’s mind that is not being filled with the stinging skin-to-skin, open hand on bare ass spanking. He will have to look the girls in the eye the rest of the year, knowing they all saw between his legs, and will likely be reminded so constantly by the girl who provoked his outburst by being allowed to bully him by the teacher, who then had all she needed to enforce the public humiliation.

Later at home his parents read a note that says that he struck the girl, which led to the spanking. It’s unclear if the note confirms that he was given a public bare bottom spanking as punishment, but if it does the parents seem unbothered by it.

That is horrifying to me. On top of the whole nightmarish punishment, imagine if your parents said you got exactly what you deserved.

On the way home Joe’s older brother asks him “she really pulled your pants down? In front of everybody???” To which Joe sheepishly and silently nods.

The scene cuts after approximately 10 spanks and a closeup of Joe’s furiously blushing face of mortifying embarrassment. It is unclear if he is made to cry or how long the public humiliation was prolonged for, but it would be hard pressed for a boy to hold back the tears like you see Joe doing for very long. You can understand his thinking tho: “she took down my underwear in front of the girls, gave me a spanking in front of the whole class, I am NOT going to cry.” His face of shame turns to one of anger which makes me think he might be able to hold the emotions in, but it’s possible the spanking continued until tears streamed down the boys cheeks and he cried out in submission.

If it was me in his position, I would have had no choice. On the second or third spank the dam would have burst just from the embarrassment and the crying would have been from deep within the soul, definitely heard in the classrooms next door.
